i`m not aware of any bpi awards being issued for damned damned damned, please feel free to correct me if i`m wrong. stiff were in fact quite lame at managing
the affairs of contracted bands and may not have disclosed accurately how many copies of the artist`s records were sold. during the last few months my sad
obsession with damned vinyl has uncovered hard fact to suggest that damned damned damned sold over 60,000 copies in the uk. meaning at least a silver disc
award should have been issued, what is the general consensus about trying to have it issued to the band? it may only be a debut album from some relatively
minor unknowns at the time but, it should be recognised and at least with the silver disc award; it should probably be worth a platinum disc by now but i can`t
prove that as yet.clot.

the Damned being recognised for their outstanding achievements towards British Music by getting awarded a platinum disc, How can we go about seeing if they
can obtain this?

Or try the people who compile the Guiness Book Of Hit Albums (Paul Gambaccini was one) as they should have the facts. To be honest I'd be suprised if it had sold enough for a silver disc (unless you're counting cumulative sales of cd's as well as original vinyl) but its far easier these days to be awarded a disc fort anything (250,000 used to be silver disc status now its platinum!!) http://www.bpi.co.uk/ |
