Are you kidding me on ???? The Damned won't play Edinburgh anymore as someone threw a drink at Cappy and damaged his guitar so I have to travel to see them
now.

the only issue they have with the Liquid Rooms is the early finish I think, unfortunately drink throwing numpties appear too often everywhere.
I think the incident you're on about was 2 or 3 Edinburgh gigs ago (mind you my memory is pretty rubbish). |

Pike is right about the "realms of fantasy". Ok, there's no gigs lined up for July-Aug., but does that really mean they'll be in a studio?

the secret gig in Edinburgh was a rubbish joke seeing the have missed us the last 2 years.
I'm from Musselburgh, and been going to Damned gigs in Edinburgh since 1980 so we've probably been in the same place at the same time quite a few times. |

As Pike and Ed point out..... the idea was originally hypothetical and a suggestion, and as I have earlier said, it's a no-no.
Understandably, the bands ethos is to produce as good a show as they can and to integrate new songs as and when they are both ready and practised (They wont compromise quality control for the sake of a night on the lash). Also the costs and organising of such a night are not insignificant..... are we expecting Chris to do all that and stump up cash on a 'We'll pay you back' promise. The other way would be to make it a ticketed event with monies in advance....which is a gig!..... which wasn't the idea. Much as I, and I know many others, would happily spend an evening on the booze watching the Damned jam, in the same manner they often do during gigs for string breaks/equipment faults, for hours on end....... it's just not going to happen for the above reasons. If enough people are interested in coughing up the cash for and organise a bar/restaurant after gig bash on the next tour it might be a nice touch... particularly as Pinch has provided so much over recent years and more than a few of us have had the odd rider bottle or after gig drink passed our way (Gloucester last year springs to mind.... the hotel bar had shut post gig so the summer tours stash was duly provided to all present to party on with the band to the early hours). It just takes us asking when and where is convenient and accepting that they are touring to make a living.. not spend it on a few of us who chat and praise and %*$#! about them. It's our turn. On subject though: What was originally suggested was theoretically a nice idea, but practically...I think potentially there'd be too many pitfulls involved to ever get it off the ground. But if it came about and it depended on, for instance, a particular number of donations at a specified amount...If I could afford it and could manage to make it for that date...I would of course participate.  Obviously this has all been said before on this thread...so apologies for repetition.
